Been So Long Ago...
Hey! Remember me? Yeah I know, long time no post. And it isn't cause I ran out of things to say/bitch about. Just seems like blogging and posting have fallen to the waste side. I plan to return though. I miss my means of self exression.
So what has been going on since my last post? Well a bunch of nothing really. Day in and day out life bullshit. I will try & touch on the highlights to catch you up.
August 2007 - I spent $6200 on home repairs. I called to have someone look at my ghetto fence and ended up having the messed up boards & the chimney repaired. I also had the house caulked and painted. So I spent about $13000 since I moved in on the house. Joe (a.ka. gay boyfriend) came over and put up my new mailbox. I ended up taking out loan against my 401K to pay for the repairs. And needless to say I am BEYOND broke now.
Sept 2007 - The lawn man that I hired turned out to be a pain in my ass. I tried mowing my own yard just 2 months after my surgery. I nearly killed myself and decided to hire someone else to mow my yard while I was still recovering. I told him that I wanted him to come every 2 weeks. That he needed to pick one day of the week that suited him and come every 2 weeks on that particular day. He of course did not listen and showed up whenever the hell he wanted, usually every week and a half as opposed to 2 weeks. I told him several times that I needed him to stick with the 2 week schedule and he continuously ignored me. After the 3rd time I made it clear that one more fuck up and he was fired.
Oct 2007 - Ollie was sick and I spent a fortune getting him better. Which was also around the time that they began taking money out of my check to repay my 401k loan. I really became financially strapped and all the overtime at work stopped. I tried to decide if I was physically up to getting a second job. I used up all my savings with the move and the 2 households for those 2 months. Plus my job not paying me the last 2 weeks of my disability hurt too. I probably should have waited on the home repairs and whatnot, but hindsight is 20/20.
I started applying for temporary positions at several different stores. I figured with the holidays coming up several places would be looking for workers. Getting a second job is really difficult for me cause my work hours are so unpredictable. I kept my fingers crossed hoping for a little luck.
Nov 2007 - The yard stopped growing so much and I asked the yard man to come every 4 weeks instead of every 2. I offered to pay him a little more for the longer time frame and he agreed.
My boss was hounding me taking my remaining vacation days before the year is up. Then gives me shit about approving the days I requested off. Needless to say Ms. S still has not mastered the work schedule and was still contacting Dilbert for help. We got a new boss to finally replace Dilbert. I shall call him The Menace. He seems like an okay guy and not anything like I thought he was. Of course, he has little knowledge of what or how we do things so he has to rely on Ms. S and Dilbert until he can get acclimated.
Then of course, the unbelievable occurred. Homophobic narrow-minded person got married. He actually found a woman that would marry him! Of course I think it was too soon for them to get hitched. I think the whole relationship was rushed! An "incident" after a couple of weeks of dating. Professional couple pictures taken after a month of dating. Engaged within 3 months of dating. I have no clue how long it was before he moved in with her. And I think they had just barely known each other a year before they got married! But I guess his biological clock was ticking and he had to get married yesterday! We rarely speak anymore and I have yet to meet the missus. I told him what I thought of their rushed nuptuals and he got defensive. I don't wish anyone's marriage to fail, but I honestly would not be surprised if his doesn't make it. I have had several friends rush into marriage and have it end less than 3 years later. Last I heard they were trying to have a baby. YIKES! The thought of little homophobic narrow-minded kids running around scares me to death!
Working the Thanksgiving holidays became impossible this year. Usually no one wants to work the Thanksgiving holidays so I work them and get that double time and a half pay. Unfortunately with the increase in gas prices and whatnot, everyone wanted to work them this year and I was lucky to even get one shift.
December 2007 - I was forced to work the overnight shift which also happens to be the same shift Joe (a.k.a. gay boyfriend) works. We had alot of fun and it was nice to be away from the idiots on the day & night shift and rarely see my managers. I can see why those are covetted shifts. I was forced to work it because no one wanted to work it during the Christmas holidays. I am bottom in seniority (out of 25 people) and I get whatever shifts are left. I get no choice in the matter.
The yard had not grown and there was no need (nor money) to pay the yard man so I told him to hold off on my attending to my yard until after the holidays. I told him I would call him if I when/if I needed him.
Planning the family holiday gathering became impossible. I wanted to bail this year but was guilted AGAIN in participating. We ended up having it on Dec 23rd instead of Christmas Eve like we usually do. I won't go into the particulars because well this entry is already long enough and I don't really want to get pissed off all over again.
Basically, it has been mentioned that we will have it at my house next year and so I have a year to unpack and get my house in order. Yep I still ain't completely unpacked. I got sick and spent the remainder of the holidays (New Years Eve) sick off my ass. Still had to work cause conveniently others we also sick which kept me from getting time off as well.
Of course, I got bumped out of actually working the Christmas and New Years Day holidays which was a first for me. I always got to work the holidays before. Just goes to show how badly the economy has been this year. I had to work the night before and the night after, but not the actually holiday. Which completely SUCKED, because technically I worked on the holiday but did not get paid for it (overnight shift is 1030p to 7am)!
